Picking up where you left off

Orion PR Director John Riggin presented some pretty exciting numbers at the Big 5 management meeting Thursday. Based on analytics from theorion.com's hosting service, Bluehost, the website is already attracting an audience as big as its best month last spring, which was also its best month ever.

In fact, August 2014 had a few more unique visitors (20,477) than last April (a best-to-that-point 20,003), even though traffic didn't pick up steam until school started mid-month. September is already on a pace to beat both months.

The top-rated stories so far this month are:
1. Student missing, presumed dead (1,139 views)
2. Students drink, float one week after Labor Day (1,034)
3. Man guilty of DUI killing sentenced (941)
4. Suspects arrested in fatal 7-11 stabbing (886)
5. Catcalling misogyny apparent on campus (655)
6. Chico dehumanizes homeless population (561)
7. The O-Face (537)
8. Men aren't entitled to women's bodies (535)
9. Food column (467)

Nice, newsy front today

It's great to see the news team posting multiple strong stories this morning and sports guy Lars Gustafson's photo gallery of the wakeboarding team. Nice front!
